GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — The historic Roebling Footbridge isn’t the only structure in Granite Falls to be adorned with high-tech digital lights in this festive holiday season. Pioneer Public Television recently installed the lighting grid in its new state-of-the-art studio space, bringing the public television station one step closer to full utilization and occupancy of the Ron and Diane Fagen building at 1 Pioneer Drive in Granite Falls.
It is estimated that the building will be fully occupied and operational in 2019 as the EditShare storage systems, master control, relay towers and other necessary equipment are carefully installed.
In the meantime, Pioneer board, staff and volunteers are fully engaged in the station’s Coming Into View Campaign designed to make the most of the new facility through the establishment of a new local program fund, more staff development and the creation of reserves to help the station solidify its balance sheet.
Pioneer has also been prototyping the use of its Community Room (to be outfitted with high-tech conferencing capacity in January 2019) with presentations by Ashley Hanson and board meetings with the Southwest Initiative Foundation and the Granite Falls Community Foundation. It is the station’s vision to have the building serve as a regional hub to connect the rural communities of Pioneer’s five-state viewing area in the Upper Midwest.
As the 2018 calendar year comes to a close, the Coming Into View Campaign is zeroing in on the goal of earning all of the $200,000 challenge match posted by the Granite Falls Bank to the Campaign. As of this writing, there is approximately $40,000 left to raise in order to meet the match by December 31, 2018.
