GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Nonprofits throughout western and southwestern Minnesota rely on Give to the Max Day to bring in much needed donations to sustain important work. Pioneer PBS is seeking to raise $3,000 on November 14, 2019 to meet a $3,000 match from long-time members that will be used to fund the development of lesson plans around locally produced art, culture and history documentaries. To donate visit: https://givemn.org/organization/Pioneer-Public-TV.

A gallery of eight Pioneer PBS broadcast segments, digital-first videos and accompanying lesson plans featuring Native American and Scandinavian American artists in rural Minnesota has recently been posted online for classroom use. The lesson plans and videos are available to every teacher and student across the country through the PBS LearningMedia platform at pioneer.pbslearningmedia.org.

Pioneer PBS seeks funds to post more videos and lesson plans from some of its most successful documentaries. In the past seven years, Pioneer PBS has produced 12 Upper Midwest Emmy® award-winning programs. The documentary, “Somali Culture in Willmar,” is used by Minneapolis Public Schools to educate staff and teachers about Somali culture. “Micronesian Culture in Milan” inspired the Micronesian Ambassador to travel from Washington, D.C. to Milan, Minnesota to see how he could assist these new immigrants. Pioneer PBS’s animated story “Maya Bdeg'a” was accepted for inclusion at the prestigious American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs and several other film festivals in St. Louis, Rhode Island, Wrenshall and Stillwater, Minnesota and Rapid City, South Dakota.

On November 14, every gift made to Pioneer on GiveMN.org will be entered into hourly drawings for $500 and $1,000 Golden Tickets. A gift of $10 or more could turn into an extra $1,000 and one donation will be randomly selected to receive a $10,000 Super-Sized GiveMN Golden Ticket!
