GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Prairie Sportsman is in southeast Minnesota on a conservation deer hunt and at TUNE camp for girls and boys who learn outdoor sports and ecology, coming up on Pioneer Public Television Sunday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m.; on Lakeland Public TV Saturday, April 20 at 2:30 p.m.; on KSMQ Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 pm; and on TPT Life Saturday, May 25 at 12:30 p.m.

The driftless region of southeastern Minnesota is home to some of the state’s biggest deer. It’s also where there are the state’s highest numbers of positive chronic wasting disease tests. Host Bret Amundson is on a late season deer hunt near Preston to learn more about what’s being done to control CWD.

TUNE (The Ultimate Nature Experience) is a five-day conservation ecology camp for girls and boys, ages 11 to 16. Youth take courses such as target shooting, archery, wilderness skills, fly fishing and tying, along with biology and ecology classes.

This episode also presents ways boaters can prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.
