GRANITE FALLS, Minnesota, Jan. 29, 2026 — This week on Prairie Yard & Garden, host Mary Holm travels to Paynesville, Minnesota to meet with Rita and Jim Erickson and take in a breathtaking landscape featuring hundreds of vibrant perennials in “The Perennial Paradise.” The second episode of the 39th season of Prairie Yard & Garden airs Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS.
Before retiring, Rita and Jim Erickson operated The Hosta Shed, planting the seeds for what would become Rita’s remarkable hosta collection. Today, the garden has grown into a perennial paradise, offering an extraordinary display of color and texture. Mary tours the garden with Rita, who shares her gardening insights in hopes of inspiring fellow enthusiasts.
“The Perennial Paradise,” and subsequent episodes of Prairie Yard & Garden, rebroadcast Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Mondays at 1 p.m. following the initial air date on Pioneer PBS.
