GRANITE FALLS, Minnesota, March 19, 2026 — New stories from across the region continue on season 17 of Postcards Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. Travel to a farm near Alexandria, Minnesota, where Kathy and Terry Sletto stay connected to a long family heritage of wool production through their collection of sheep, rabbits and guard llamas.

For Kathy and Terry Sletto, farming is as much a passion and connection to family heritage as it is a business, whether that means making hot-dish for the sheep shearer, knitting through cold winter nights or spinning wool on an 1860s spinning wheel handmade by Kathy’s Norwegian great-great-grandfather.

“If you watch closely while others think you should be shoveling manure, it’s amazing what you’ll see and learn,” said Kathy, who has a life-long love of animals.

With a flock of Shetland sheep, a herd of rabbits, a few guard llamas and numerous cats, Shepherd’s Bay Farm is full of animals with unique personalities and stories, a few of which Kathy shares.
