GRANITE FALLS, Minnesota, March 12, 2026 — New stories from across the region continue on Postcards Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. Season 17’s third episode features singer-songwriter Brice Dempcy, whose music addresses mental health and suicide prevention, and LuLu Beans Coffee Shop—a welcoming community gathering place.
Singer-songwriter Brice Dempcy of Granite Falls has performed since childhood, discovering a love for drumming that grew into his ability to perform vocals, melody, and rhythm as a solo artist. After the loss of a friend and his father, Dempcy channels his music into songs that explore difficult topics like mental health and suicide to foster awareness, compassion and comfort for those facing these struggles.
LuLu Beans is a coffee shop located in a converted historic house in downtown Willmar dedicated to providing visitors with a welcoming and relaxing place to enjoy coffee, food and treats. Owner Laure Swanson also highlights local creativity through the LuLu Beans decor, showcasing artwork from community artists—including many of her own employees.
"I just love being here,” customer Dennis Benson said. “I come and play cribbage here pretty much every day at 3 p.m."
Postcards rebroadcasts Sundays at 7 p.m. and Mondays at 1:30 p.m. following the initial air date on Pioneer PBS.
