GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Goats and invasive plants will be the topic of Prairie Yard & Garden (PY&G) on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. PY&G host Mary Holm learns about the power of goats as a tool to control unsightly brush and noxious weeds. The program, Goats and Invasive Plants, will be rebroadcast on Saturday, April 11 at 4 p.m., Monday, April 13 at 1 p.m. and will be available for online viewing at www.pioneer.org/pyg immediately after Thursday’s broadcast.

Invasive buckthorn can be found in most of our loved natural areas. Enter Pesto the goat and her crew. These goats love to eat buckthorn and other weeds. In this episode, Holm interviews Tom Sonenstahl of Midwest Goat Mitigation and learns about the art and science of “mob grazing” as a method of brush control by this goat-for-hire business based in the Twin Cities metro, north and west metro counties and the Brainerd lakes area.

PY&G is produced by the University of Minnesota, Morris in collaboration with Pioneer PBS. Production sponsorship is provided by ACIRA, Heartland Motors, Diamond Willow Advance Care Assisted Living and Shalom Hill Farm.
