It takes place just after the civil rights movement in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In actuality, the film was made entirely in Minnesota with the campus of Carleton College serving as the set where many of the scenes were filmed. The Postcards crew interviews the film’s director Phillip Harder who based his film on a novel by Glasgow Phillips.
