Urge Congress: Protect PBS Funding

Dakota Art and Movie Night at Jackpot Junction Thursday, May 30

GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — In partnership with the Lower Sioux Indian Community, the Cansayapi Cultural Department, the Upper Sioux Community, Dakota Wicohan and the Redwood Falls Public Library, PBS Pioneer will be sponsoring a Dakota Art and Movie Night on Thursday, May 30 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

The evening will begin with appetizers and fellowship as attendees view a special exhibit of local Native art and quilts mades by Dakota elders. Next, several of PBS Pioneer’s documentaries about artistic and cultural traditions being practiced at the Upper and Lower Sioux Communities will be shown. A discussion will follow with staff from PBS Pioneer’s Postcards production team and the Cansayapi Cultural Department.
