Public Media Giving Days 2026 Coming May 1-2
Pioneer PBS reaches more than 1 million viewers across rural Minnesota and into the Dakotas and Iowa and for 60 years Pioneer PBS has shared the stories of greater Minnesota—the people, places and traditions that define our region. As we mark this milestone, we are excited once more to participate in the fourth annual Public Media Giving Days campaign, which will take place on May 1 and 2 and you’re invited to join us by telling the world why public media matters. This national campaign from NPR, PBS, Greater Public and the CDP is a time for public broadcasting consumers like you to celebrate and spread the word about what #PublicMediaGives to you and your community—and to join together in giving back to your local station!
Public Media Giving Days is an annual two-day event that celebrates the importance of public media in local communities nationwide. Your voice matters. Tell your family, friends and neighbors what #PublicMediaGives to you. Share your favorite programs and memories from watching Pioneer PBS, and encourage others to join the conversation for #PMGD2026. Your voice will become part of the nationwide chorus of people sharing their love for public media.
Then, consider making an additional gift on Friday,May 1 or Saturday, May 2, to help keep Pioneer PBS independent and accessible so that we can continue to provide the programs and services you and our community rely on.
Because of the loss of federal funding for our Pioneer PBS station, we lost a full third of our annual budget and stations nationwide are also feeling the pressure; as a result, Public Media Giving Dayscarries more weight than ever before.
Local viewers and businesses have stepped up to help support Pioneer PBS. But our work isn't over. Shows, particularly local programming like Prairie Sportsman and Prairie Sportsman, that you love are in jeopardy. We're asking for your continued support to keep Pioneer PBS free and available to everyone for generations to come.
Your support can help move public media forward. Make your donation today to support all that Pioneer PBS provides, including:
- Providing high-quality, educational programming that entertains, informs and inspires all ages.
- Brings the world to you and uplifts local stories by honoring our heritage and bringing the spirit of greater Minnesota to the world.
- Highlight rural artists, tribal members, farmers, teachers, business owners, and veterans—and provide educational resources and content for children and families across our region.
