GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Public Television’s Grassland Jam will feature the Red Squirrel Chasers on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. The program will be available for online viewing immediately after the broadcast on www.pioneer.org/grasslandjam. The broadcast will be repeated on Monday, May 13 at noon. The performances were recorded at the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old Time Music Association Festival held in Richmond in August 2018.

Red Squirrel Chasers is a string band made up of four old-time music veterans including Stephanie Coleman from Brooklyn on fiddle, Jim Collier from Raleigh on mandolin, Jim Nelson from St. Louis on guitar and Dedo Norris from St. Louis on bass.

The band explores the hazy musical borderline between the old-time string bands of the 1930s and the bluegrass music that emerged in the 1940s.

Grassland Jam is produced and edited by Matthew Johnson. The program is made possible by contributions from the voters of Minnesota through a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
