GRANITE FALLS, Minnesota, Feb. 5, 2026 — This week on Prairie Yard & Garden host Mary Holm travels to Parkers Prairie, Minnesota to meet with Lowell Dittberner, owner of Plants Beautiful Nursery in “Plants Beautiful." The third episode of the 39th season of Prairie Yard & Garden airs Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS.
The distinctive, sculptural trees often associated with traditional Japanese gardens may look exotic, but many can be grown right here in Minnesota. Plants Beautiful Nursery owner Lowell Dittberner shares how his team carefully cultivates these striking topiaries—along with other premium trees—for both residential and commercial landscapes. You’ll also learn practical tips for caring for and maintaining these living works of art at home.
