GRANITE FALLS, Minn., January 16th, 2024 - Prairie Sportsman Season 15 premieres Sunday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. “Heart of Western Minnesota” features a western Minnesota veterans’ hunting and fishing event and the Minnesota River’s pre-settlement history.
The first segment, “Healing Purple Hearts,” features a cast and blast event organized by warriors and Walleyes Outdoors in western Minnesota to help Purple Heart recipients, other veterans and members of the law enforcement community to heal through camaraderie.Veterans share stories of their service while pheasant hunting and walleye fishing.
Then “Early Life on the Mni Sota features the pre-settlement history of the Minnesota River that runs through the state’s heartland and draws its name from the Dakota word, Mni Sota, which means cloudy water. The river served as a thoroughfare for the Dakota Nation and fur traders before European settlers arrived.
