NEW YEAR, NEW SEASONS FOR PIONEER PBS PRODUCTIONS

A new year brings a fresh start, and at Pioneer PBS, a new year also brings a new and revamped preview guide, along with new seasons and specials from your favorite local shows from your favorite Upper Midwest Emmy Award-winning teams.

Prairie Yard & Garden premieres its 38th season Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Prairie Yard & Garden returns with “A Hometown Greenhouse” as the PY&G team visits Thompson Greenery in the small town of Barnesville, Minnesota, to highlight the prominent and expansive greenhouse that cultivates a wide variety of exquisite hanging baskets, planters, plants, and top-quality greenery and floral arrangements. Mike Cihak is in his 30th season producing and editing the show, and Mary Holm returns for her eleventh as the host. Repeat broadcasts air Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Mondays at 1 p.m. Episodes can be viewed online at pioneer. org/pyg.

Prairie Sportsman season 16 Sunday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Prairie Sportsman returns with “Warrior Walleyes and Invasive Rusties” as host Bret Amundson explores the Warrior Walleye Shootout in Lake of the Woods, and researchers trap rusty crayfish on Tofte Lake to study their movement and methods for removing the invasive species from northern waters. Prairie Sportsman is widely distributed and can be viewed in Minnesota,

the Dakotas, Wisconsin, Iowa, Wyoming, Michigan, and the Rocky Mountains. The show is hosted by Bret Amundson, who is in his ninth season, and produced by producer/writer Cindy Dorn and videographer/editor Dan Admundson. Repeat broadcasts air Mondays at 12:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Episodes can be viewed online at pioneer.org/prairiesportsman.

Knit With Love - A Postcards special - premieres Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m.
To discover why knitting was so important to her great, great grandmother, filmmaker Dana Conroy goes on a journey that takes her from Alabama to Norway to the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa. Along the way, she learns about her family, the latest trends in knitting and how to make yarn the old-fashioned way.

A Life in Motion: The Alec Majerus Story - A Postcards special - premieres Thursday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m.
Professional street skateboarder and X Games medalist Alec Majerus grew up skating the icy streets of Rochester, Minnesota, with his friends, where he discovered a relentless passion that has fueled a successful career and a life of adventure. “A Life In Motion: The Alec Majerus Story” follows Alec in both Minnesota and California as he shares the ups and downs of his skateboarding journey.
