GRANITE FALLS, Minn. —
On Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. Pioneer Public Television’s Postcards program will feature a story about large format photographer Dan Huiting and a short film by Joshua Carlon. The stories will be available for online viewing after the broadcast through the station’s website www.pioneer.org/postcards.

Dan Huiting of Minneapolis is an Emmy-winning director and cinematographer specializing in music video and documentaries. He is a long-time collaborator with Pioneer’s Dana Conroy, who interviewed him for Postcards about his latest endeavor — large format photography. “My start in large format photography came out of a desire to have projects that I could do, start to finish, on my own,” Huiting said. “There's a wonderful collaborative aspect to filmmaking, but sometimes you just want to do your own thing and not have a million cooks in the kitchen all the time,” he added.

Minnesota-based filmmaker Joshua Carlon’s short film "Saul's 108th Story" has been an official selection in twelve film festivals throughout the country. Carlon connected with Conroy at the 2018 Free Range Film Festival in Wrenshall where Pioneer’s documentary Fire and Light was featured. Carlon was the producer, director, cinematographer, editor and animator for this entertaining short film about one man’s high-flying summer job.
