GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — On an upcoming episode of Prairie Yard & Garden (PY&G) host Mary Holm visits with Susie and Kris Hanson of Morris who are turning their yard from one that needs lots of mowing and maintenance into one that is producing a bountiful harvest of food for their young family. The program will be broadcast on Thursday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. Yard into Garden will be repeated on Saturday, February 22 at 4 p.m., Monday, February 24 at 1 p.m. and will be available for online viewing at www.pioneer.org/pyg immediately after broadcast.

The Hanson’s desire to convert their lawn into a garden stems from the satisfaction of growing their own food while reducing the use of fossil fuels and chemicals often required to maintain a yard. The Hanson’s yard into garden project addresses their concerns about food safety and supports their personal healthy eating goals.

PY&G is produced by the University of Minnesota, Morris in collaboration with Pioneer PBS. Production sponsorship is provided by ACIRA, Heartland Motors, Diamond Willow Advance Care Assisted Living and Shalom Hill Farm.
