GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — A standing room only crowd filled the Milan gym to witness the 50th anniversary celebration of the Chord-Ayres male chorus on Saturday, September 14, 2019. A broadcast of this historic concert recorded by Pioneer PBS will be aired on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at 8 p.m. Immediately after the broadcast, the program will be made available for online viewing at pioneer.org/specials.

The Chord-Ayres started in the basement of the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church near rural Louisburg in 1969 and have been sponsored by American Legion Post 359 in Milan since 1982. In 2012, the Chord-Ayres were inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. For the past 50 years, the group has performed a variety of selections in a wide range of styles including barbershop, sacred, popular, classical and patriotic music for audiences around the United States.

Directed by Ted Albers and accompanied by Linda Anderson, the Chord-Ayres 50th anniversary celebration featured a finale performed by current and former members which brought the crowd to its feet in an emotional tribute to the group.

The broadcast program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. For more information visit www.chord-ayres.com.
