GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Pioneer PBS will use its mobile studio to record the 50th anniversary celebration of the Chord-Ayres male chorus on Saturday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the school gym in Milan.

The Chord-Ayres started in the basement of the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church near rural Louisburg in 1969 and have been sponsored by American Legion Post 359 in Milan since 1982. In 2012, the Chord-Ayres were inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. For the past 50 years, the group has performed a variety of selections in a wide range of styles including barbershop, sacred, popular, classical and patriotic music for audiences around the United States.

Directed by Ted Albers and accompanied by Linda Anderson, the Chord-Ayres 50th anniversary celebration will feature a finale performed by current and former members. The event is free and open to the public. The event is being made possible by contributions from the Martinson Foundation, individuals, businesses and the voters of Minnesota through a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
