Hello Newsroom Heroes!

Welcome to the October edition of News You Can Use, designed to help support local media across the Pioneer PBS viewing area. Each edition includes free, publication ready content you can use in print, online or on-air. Our goal is simple: provide quality regional content that may be useful to your newsroom while highlighting the people, places and stories that make our communities unique.

Use whatever fits your publication or station - there’s no cost or obligation. If there are resources or story types you’d like to see included, I’d welcome your feedback.

In this edition of News You Can Use, we are featuring the upcoming Give to the Max Day campaign that helps nonprofit organizations like Pioneer PBS fundraise to support their work.

We are also featuring an upcoming screening event for the new documentary Lost Souls: Reforming Minnesota’s Mental Health Institutions that examines the former Fergus Falls State Hospital and the people whose lives were shaped by Minnesota’s mental health system.

Lastly, this month we are featuring an upcoming episode of Face to Face: Minnesota 7th District House that will feature a debate between candidates Erik Osberg and Michelle Fischbach.

Included in the files are photographs, the human interest style stories, as well as links and QR codes for related content.

Thank you for all you do to help share local stories!

Best,

For more than 60 years, Pioneer PBS has been telling stories from the people and places that make greater Minnesota home. Farmers. Artists. Veterans. Educators. Indigenous artists and culture bearers. Business owners. Community leaders. Families. Neighbors. These are the people who make this region what it is and your support helps make sure their stories have a place to be seen, heard and shared. This Give to the Max, Pioneer PBS is celebrating the people behind the stories and the difference local public media can make in their lives.
