Event featuring Scandinavian artist Fred Livesay at the Madison Mercantile on April 23

GRANITE FALLS, Minn. – Pioneer PBS and the Milan Village Arts School will be hosting a screening of a Postcards segment featuring Scandinavian folk art expert Fred Livesay. “The Art of Everyday Living” will be shown at the Madison Mercantile on Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. The Madison Mercantile is located at 601 First St. in Madison and the event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Fred Livesay has built a career around creating traditional Scandinavian handcrafts. Livesay says that “forty years of teaching and study in the United States, Sweden and Europe, has given him a clear understanding of the joy handmade objects bring to everyday life, the healing art of craft and the meditative connection between head, hands and heart.” Livesay has a degree in history museum studies and has taught in the United States, Sweden and England. 

This event will include a live carving demonstration by Livesay. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Livesay about his process and inspirations. The Postcards team of Dana Conroy, Ben Dempcy and Kristofor Gieske will also be in attendance to talk about their work.
