GRANITE FALLS, Minnesota, March 5, 2026 — A new season featuring stories from across the region continues on Postcards Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. The second episode of season 17 features a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, a flower farm and a veteran with a family history tied to a bottling company—three stories that highlight camaraderie and community shaping life around us.
Ornie Alness of Clarkfield enlisted at the age of 20 and served in the Pacific theater during World War II. After coming back home from the war, he settled down, raised a family and operated their family farm for the rest of his life. Ornie passed away on Nov. 24, 2025, at the age of 104.
In Belgrade, Mary Solbreken has always, even from a young age, had a passion for flowers and now runs Rustic Designs Flower Farm, which is a pick-your-own flower farm.
Veteran Dave Roth showcases his music and talks about his family history running the Madison Bottling Company for more than 100 years. “I’m not in it for the money, I’m not in it for the business, it’s just self-enjoyment,” Roth said.
Postcards rebroadcasts Sundays at 7 p.m. and Mondays at 1:30 p.m. following the initial air date on Pioneer PBS.
