GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Pioneer PBS’s Postcards program will feature songwriter/producer Austin Carson of Minneapolis, celebrity chef Daniel Green of Edina and multimedia artist Jess Gorman of Granite Falls. The program will air on Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m., on Sunday, April 19 at 7 p.m. and on Monday, April 20 at 1:30 p.m. The stories will also be available for online viewing through the station’s website: www.pioneer.org/postcards.

Minneapolis-based songwriter/producer Austin Carson has created a new experimental pop group with drummer Jessica Anderson called YYY. Carson describes himself as a “genre-blurring, experimental pop artist bent on delivering a previously unheard sonic experience.” Carson recently composed the new theme music heard at the introduction of Pioneer PBS Postcards Season 11 episodes and he is currently working on the yet-to-be released album Aqua Dungeon After Dark.

Celebrity chef Daniel Green was born in London but now lives in Edina. From there he reaches out to the world through the power of television with his healthy eating message. The Postcards crew caught up with him in his kitchen and learned about his journey since coming to Minnesota which has included writing 12 cookbooks, being a judge of the Food Network and logging more than 11,000 hours of live TV on Shop HQ, QVC and other programs. “I like living in Minnesota because nowhere is near, but nowhere is far,“ Green said. “L.A. is three hours, Florida is three hours, New York is two hours, so I feel quite lucky,” he added. “You can really go anywhere in a day or two days and then be back with the family.”

Since moving to western Minnesota a little more than three years ago, artist/photographer/journalist Jess Gorman has immersed herself in the creative community of the Upper Minnesota River Valley. She has engaged with the region’s history, its riverine landscape and community-building organizations, while sharing her skills as a photographer, painter, collaborator and grant writer to make projects happen. She also lifts up and promotes the work of others through her role as a reporter for the Granite Falls and Clarkfield Advocate Tribune. “I'm here because my heart is here and the community supports me,” said Gorman. “I've honestly never seen a community support their artists like they do here in Granite Falls.”
