GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — On Saturday, June 22 from 10 to 11 a.m., Pioneer PBS and the Granite Falls Public Library are sponsoring a special event to celebrate the release of Teresa Peterson’s new children’s book Grasshopper Girl — a story about storytelling and where Grasshopper Girl learns character lessons from Unktomi, the Dakota trickster.

Peterson, a Dakota from the Upper Sioux Community, will read her book and teach children some of the Dakota words used in the book. The book is illustrated by Jordan Rodgers, a Lakota artist studying at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

PBS Kids character Curious George will be at the library for picture taking as part of the event and copies of Grasshopper Girl will be for sale and book signing by the author.
