GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — Pioneer PBS recently received a grant to create greater visibility and awareness for the PBS KIDS brand. Pioneer PBS’s priority is to not only raise knowledge of how PBS KIDS content can be accessed digitally, but to offer technological support for local families.
PBS KIDS content is free and is available in any place that children and families are finding content. Nationally, PBS KIDS averages 15.4 million monthly users and over 371 million monthly streams across PBS digital platforms. It’s an important resource for families in our communities: PBS stations reach more children — and more parents of young children — in low-income homes than any children’s TV network. 81% of parents nationwide say PBS helps prepare children for success in school.
Pioneer PBS currently supports the PBS KIDS channel over its broadcast air, a livestream at www.pioneer.org/kidslive and has participated in parades and events featuring favorite PBS KIDS characters. One priority of this project is the development and buildout of a Pioneer PBS education landing page on its website to make PBS KIDS content and educational resources easily accessible to kids, parents and teachers in our community. Another priority is to host and attend family-focused events.
Part of Pioneer PBS’s mission is to support families and the life-long learners of all ages in our region. We believe that this project will help area families better access the free children’s resources from PBS and Pioneer PBS that are available to them, promote a sense of belonging within communities and build new relationships centered around the appreciation of exploring and learning about the world around us at any age!

About PBS KIDS
Between birth and age 5, 90% of a child’s brain develops. During these early years, it’s critical to build the foundational cognitive and social-emotional skills that kids need to be successful lifelong learners. That’s why PBS KIDS is dedicated to offering free access to media content and community-based experiences that support learning for young children. Our mission is to use the power of media to open worlds of possibilities for all children, so that every child can reach their full potential in school — and in life.
