GRANITE FALLS, Minn. — On Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS, Prairie Yard & Garden (PY&G) host Mary Holm visits the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in Waite Park. The program will be rebroadcast on Saturday, March 21 at 4 p.m. and Monday, March 23 at 1 p.m. and will be available for online viewing at www.pioneer.org/pyg immediately after Thursday’s broadcast.

Caitlin Carlson of the Stearns History Museum and Stearns County Parks director Benjamin Anderson, are Holm’s tour guides as she learns about the important role granite quarries have played in the development of Minnesota. The 683-acre park features oak woodland, oak forest, wet meadow, wet prairie, bluff lands, rock outcroppings, granite quarries and is considered to be one of the most unique county parks in the United States.
