GRANITE FALLS, Minn. —    On Thursday, April 7, Pioneer PBS will release new Postcards stories about multimedia indigenous artist Inkpa Mani, the Luverne-based band "Beautiful Kingdom" and Renville author Patricia Buschette. The stories will be available for online viewing starting at noon through the station’s website: www.pioneer.org/postcards and YouTube Channel. The program will be aired over the Pioneer PBS broadcast network on April 7 at 7 p.m.

Tachapi Tokahea Inkpa Mani is a multimedia artist and sculptor who lives near his family’s farm near Wheaton. Inkpa Mani draws on his family’s Aztec and Dakota heritage to create sculptures, drawings, digital media, paintings and community-based art. “Art has brought me into a journey of remembering my relatives, being a better person and a better community member,” Mani says. “I’m actively thinking about the past and in the future and how this work is going to influence others.”

The three-piece band "Beautiful Kingdom" features Matthew Stensland-Bos of Luverne; Nadia Sesson, originally of Montreal, Quebec; and Tyler Bryce, originally of California. Each of these singer-songwriters were creating music on their own for nearly a decade before hearing about each other. Uniting in 2019 through challenging and serendipitous circumstances, "Beautiful Kingdom" now headlines festivals in Sioux Falls and is about to release an album. When asked about the meaning of their name, Sesson replied: “We'd like to bring heaven on to earth. We'd like to make it the most beautiful place possible.”

Patricia Buschette of Renville began her writing career writing human-interest stories for the local newspapers, such as the Redwood Gazette, the West Central Tribune, the Olivia Times-Journal and the Renville County Register before she embarked on a lifelong dream of writing a novel. Her book “Locked Up in Frost” is a story of conflict, based in the fictional community of Glenview where many people are comfortable with the way things currently are. When somebody comes in and wants to make a change, it's difficult. “The story of Glenview is a story that is applicable to many communities,” Buschette says.
