Darin Sorby and Kayla Hawkinson have been hired to serve as community relations representatives replacing Daren Lehne and Nicole Zempel in that role.
Darin Sorby, a native of Dawson, Minn., comes to Pioneer as the former news director for KDMA radio. Sorby has extensive experience in the areas of sales and real estate.
Kayla Hawkinson is a native of Chokio, Minn. Most recently, she held a senior management position for Relay For Life with the American Cancer Society. She is an active community member and serves on the Chokio City Council.
“We are delighted to have great people such as Darin and Kayla to do outreach in the extensive viewing area covered by Pioneer,” said General Manager Les Heen.
Pioneer recently embarked upon a year-long transition process to move into a new studio in Granite Falls, Minn., thanks to a generous gift from Ron and Diane Fagen. The Fagens donated the construction of the new facility and the land it sits on just south of the intersection of highways 212 and 23. A recent state of Minnesota legislative appropriation is allowing the station to purchase new equipment and towers for the facility. An additional $2.5 million will be needed from private sources to complete the new studio financing package in total.
