On November 14, 2013, PPTV is asking for contributions to help finance the operation of the trailer, which will be completed in May of 2014. Thanks to a grant from the USDA’s Rural Utility Service, the funds to equip the custom built trailer have been secured. Fairmont RV is being contracted to build the trailer, which will feature a master control suite and a separate audio booth, plus all the computers, mixing and editing equipment necessary to capture a live concert, a sports event or a town hall meeting.
“For years we have had to shell out large sums of money to rent production trailers. Now we will have our own,” stated PPTV station manager Jon Panzer. “With the support of the viewing public, we’ll be able to take Pioneer Public TV on the road to more effectively serve the region,” Panzer added.
Pioneer still needs to raise funds to pay for digital fiber optic camera cables, video cards, gas and other operational expenses to get the trailer on the road. To date, it has been offered three $1,000 matching pledges totalling $3,000 from PPTV members to stimulate other viewers to give. The goal of Pioneer’s Give to the Max day on Nov. 14 is $6,000. This means that if $3,000 is raised online and the $3,000 matching pledge is met, the goal will be reached. For more information visit www.pioneer.org/givemn.
