The long term vision of the One Watershed, One Plan is to align local water planning on major watershed boundaries with state strategies towards prioritized, targeted and measurable implementation plans. The MPCA has extensive information on each watershed in the the state and how the quality of the water in that watershed aligns with national clean water standards. Policy makers at the state level all the way down to county level Soil and Water Conservation District board members are trying to figure out how best to regulate and incentivize agricultural producers and landowners to help meet these clean water standards. “Clean water practices are every Minnesotan's responsibility,” said Governor Dayton recently at a statewide Watershed Summit. “Anything less is unacceptable, and it's achievable if all of us do our part.”
