Broadcast Engineer

For 42 years Pioneer Public Television, headquartered in Appleton, Minnesota, has been the region’s premier public television outlet with its network broadcasting from Fergus Falls, Appleton, and Worthington, Minnesota.  Pioneer serves the southwestern third of Minnesota with a mix of national PBS and locally produced content for both broadcast and multi-media distribution to the communities it serves. 

The position of Broadcast Engineer is a diverse position with a variety of technical responsibilities and involvement within the company.  The successful candidate will work closely as a member of the Engineering and Operations team to maintain 24/7 reliability of one analog and four digital program streams from creation to broadcast and distribution as well as other media functions.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and knowledge with a background in electronics and electronic equipment maintenance as well as IT network management.  Knowledge of VHF/UHF analog and digital television transmitters, the operation and installation of broadcast television equipment like: video tape machines, servers, routers, switchers, satellite reception, microwave and fiber equipment, graphics machines, production equipment is a plus.  The candidate must also be highly reliable, motivated, have excellent communications skills and have the initiative to be a self starter.  Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations governing television licensees is also a plus.  A valid Minnesota driver licenses are required with the capability of a CDL a plus.
