Diversity Report
Background: The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) requires public television stations to adopt formal goals for diversity and to report annually on steps taken to work toward those goals. These actions are required for all stations receiving Community Service Grants funds (CSG). This document will outline goals and steps taken in the past year.
Statement of goals (as adopted by the Board of Directors):
Pioneer will work to support the diversity of our communities through programming and our workplace environment. We believe that is important to understand diversity in different forms including but not limited ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation and socio-economic status. Pioneer will work to:

Develop intercultural competence among our managers to provide leadership throughout the staff.

Provide formal diversity training for management and supervisory personnel to provide the tools necessary for developing a workplace that embraces diversity.

Seek diverse candidates for our Board of Directors through the Board’s Governance and Nominating Committee process.
Steps taken:

Managers received formal training in intercultural competence through the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

The Pioneer Board of Directors undertook diversity training as part of the board’s annual meeting.

The Pioneer Board of Directors adopted formal diversity goals for the organization.

Members of the Pioneer Governance and Nominating Committee started work on finding diverse candidates for future board membership.
