Do you have an interest in deer hunting, habitat, agriculture or deer in general? What do you think about a draft list of topics and goals for deer management, found on the Minnesota DNR's Deer Plan webpage? You still have time to contribute ideas and feedback about possible deer management topics that will shape Minnesota’s first-ever deer management plan. Topics include deer health, habitat, population management, funding, and more. Anyone can submit comments online or email comments through Sunday, March 5th. There are also public meetings scheduled throughout the end of February.
MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD at the meeting in Montevideo this Monday at the Minnesota Army National Guard (711 S. 17th St.). A schedule of the remaining public meetings can be found online.
This is a great opportunity for the public to contribute to a shared vision for the future of deer management in Minnesota.
Last fall, the DNR worked with members of a citizen advisory committee to identify the draft topics and goals that we are now seeking input on. The public input we receive this winter will influence how the Deer Plan is developed over the next year. The advisory committee will continue to provide recommendations throughout the process, and we expect to have a draft plan available for a second round of public comment by early 2018.
